Benny is a 6-year-old Chihuahua mix with a huge personality packed into a little body! He is mostly house trained and continuing to improve. He has started asking at the door when he needs to go outside, although he may still have an occasional accident in a new environment or when he is feeling nervous. A consistent routine helps him feel comfortable and successful.
Benny has been working on crate training in foster care. He can be a little vocal at bedtime, but otherwise he has done very well and has never had an accident in his crate. When left alone, he is generally happy to find a comfy spot to relax or patiently wait outside the bathroom door for his person.
He is a quiet boy overall, but he will let you know when he spots or hears another dog in the neighbourhood. Gentle reminders are usually all he needs to settle down.
Benny can be a little spicy when first meeting someone and may protest being picked up, but once he trusts you, he is happy to be handled. He has met several dogs and has been mostly friendly with smaller dogs. He may warn larger dogs with a growl or nip, but once he warms up, he does well.
Once comfortable, Benny is an absolute cuddle bug! He loves being wherever his person is and, ideally, touching them at all times. He enjoys relaxing but also loves a good walk and does well on leash. He can walk for quite a while and gets the cutest zoomies on carpeted floors. Toys aren’t really his thing.
Benny knows words like “outside,” “go pee,” and “walk,” and would benefit from continued work on “sit,” “stay,” and “come.”
It has been a joy watching this little guy come out of his shell. With time, patience, and reassurance, Benny will make a wonderful and loving addition to the right family.
Benny is up to date on age appropriate vaccinations and has been recently neutered.
