Hello, I am Briel.
I may be 9 years old but let me assure you I have plenty of gas left in the tank. I am playful and love to curl up with my foster parents. I can be sweet and spicy at times. I love to catch some rays from my favorite spot on the sofa and watch the birds and squirls that stop by at the bird feeders.
Once I get attached to a family, I can become very protective of them. I am only trying to keep them safe, but I need to learn how to be more accepting to strangers who come to visit. You could say I am not great at sharing my things like toys, food or treats, but my foster parents are slowly teaching me how to share. I am a wonderful work in progress.
I am potty-trained, but you may have to show me how to ask for the door in our new home. My foster parents put down a pee pad if they are leaving me in the house alone for a long time. I will the odd time leave a little treasure but my foster parents are working with me and I am improving. I can get very anxious when left in a crate during that time or the night. I sleep better when closer to my humans.
I can play very well with other dogs if they are respectful of my size and personal space, but I can get a little cranky when I am tired and need my quiet time.
I am very curious about cats but do not want to live with them at all.
Right now, I am living with an 11-year-old girl. I like older children who understand that I march to the beat of my own drum and who consider my personal boundaries when I say no thank you.
I am terrified of heavy rain, thunder or bad weather in general. I tend to shake like a leaf and need to be near humans who can protect me and make me feel safe.
I recently had two visits to the dentist and will need an owner who is willing to help me brush my teeth.
