Meet Babe (or Bébé), a charming senior Frenchie with a big personality and so much love to give! This lovable gentleman is equal parts explorer, comedian, and professional couch potato. Babe loves people and has trusted every human he’s met – his favourite place is right beside his person (or in their arms so he can see all the action!). He is housetrained and politely waits by the door when he needs to go out. He is also crate trained and rests comfortably in his crate when home alone. While he can sleep in his crate overnight, he much prefers snoozing outside of it on his cozy doggie bed near his people.
Babe is generally a quiet, calm guy, but when he gets excited to play, he may let out his hilarious, almost human-sounding “ARF!” He absolutely LOVES other dogs and is always eager to say hello and make a new friend. However, busy environments can sometimes be overstimulating for him and cause him to pant or overheat, so he does best when given a chance to cool down and recharge.
Babe would thrive in a lower-to-medium energy home. He enjoys short, 15-20 minute sniff-filled walks before returning to his true passion: napping. He walks well on a leash but may pull toward a potential new dog friend or activate his stubborn Frenchie mode and will stop dead in his tracks if he has other plans! He knows “sit”, “down” and “wait” in both English and French, but is still working on recall, so extra care should be taken when he is off-leash.
Babe does have a few ongoing medical and daily care needs, but once you get into his routine, they are very manageable – and he is absolutely worth the extra TLC! He has recovered beautifully from BOAS surgery, which has helped his breathing tremendously and he also recently underwent a procedure to treat a chronic corneal defect and has healed very well, but requires daily eye drops in both eyes.
Babe has allergies and food sensitivities, so he must remain on a strict fish-only diet and takes daily allergy medication to help prevent his skin from becoming itchy and irritated. Like many Frenchies, he also has an adorable little corkscrew tail that needs to be cleaned daily to prevent irritation and infection.
With his love of belly rubs, goofy back rolls, furniture-scratching wiggles, and over-the-top excitement when his people come home, Babe is ready to spend his golden years being spoiled, snuggled, and loved as much as he deserves!🐾💙
Babe is up to date on appropriate vaccinations and is neutered.
