Name: Elliot
Age: 10 years
Breed: Maltese/Yorkie mix
Size: Small (0-25lbs)
Elliot proves that the best things really do come in smallest, most fragile packages. With his delicate frame and soulful eyes, Elliot carries a quiet grace that speaks volumes. He is a gentle, tender-hearted boy who may be shy at first, but once he feels safe, he blossoms into the most devoted companion you could ever hope for. His kind of love is unconditional.
Elliot came into our care after being rescued from a backyard breeder, and despite the difficult past he endured, he has never stopped believing in the goodness of people. He immediately stole the hearts of his fosters, his handler, and everyone here at the rescue. His toothless grin doesn’t slow him down one bit; he devours every meal and licks the bowl clean, grateful for every bite. Dog food, cat food, horse food — Elliot doesn’t discriminate. He’s just thankful to be fed.
He enjoys short, leisurely walks to sniff around and take in the fresh air, but he’s just as happy relaxing inside, curled up in a soft blanket. Elliot adores other dogs, gentle children, and even cats — his heart is big enough for everyone. He doesn’t ask for much. Just a quiet, loving home where he can spend his golden years surrounded by kindness, patience, and the warmth of a life well-lived.
Elliot’s journey hasn’t been easy. While in our care, he suffered a collapsed trachea, leading to late trips to the ER and nights spent on oxygen. After trialing different treatment options, Elliot has been thriving for the past month on a gentle dose of prednisone. Because of his condition, we’ve made the decision (with his vet’s full support) not to neuter him. The risk of anesthesia is simply too great for this precious angel. As a result, Elliot struggles with potty training and marks indoors, but he wears his belly band with pride.
Elliot loves deeply. He will climb into your lap with quiet determination, press his head against your chest, and sigh as if to say, “Thank you for loving me.” He is not just looking for a home, he is looking for someone to love him fiercely, protect him tenderly, and cherish him for the miracle he is.
If you have room in your heart for a dog who has known pain but chooses love, who asks for nothing but gives everything, Elliot is here waiting.
