Directors and Coordinators are expected to put in a minimum of 6 hours per week and be responsive to emails within 36 hours.
Ottawa Dog Rescue is seeking a creative and organized Event Coordinator to plan and execute fundraising events. These events are essential to support our rescue efforts, particularly covering vet bills. If you are passionate about animals and excel at organizing engaging events, we would love to have you on our team!
As Event Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing the planning and execution of our signature events. This includes logistical support, marketing, volunteer coordination, and sponsorship development.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and execute fundraising events to generate income for the rescue.
- Develop new event ideas to engage the community.
- Coordinate with vendors, sponsors, and venues.
- Recruit and manage event volunteers, including communication, job descriptions, and follow-up.
- Lead volunteer committees, managing agendas, pipelines, and supporting materials.
- Oversee marketplace vendors and silent auction donors.
- Collaborate with senior volunteer committees to maximize community outreach and fundraising efforts.
- Support event sponsorship programs, including sales, solicitation, package creation, onboarding, and post-event reporting.
- Promote events through social media and local media partnerships.
- Actively participate in all event-related committees and outreach activities.
Requirements:
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Previous experience in event planning, fundraising, or development.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of event sponsorship, community fundraising, and volunteer engagement.
- Experience working with volunteer committees and leaders.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work after-hours when needed.
- Passion for animal welfare and rescue.
