Name: Betty
Age: 6 months
Breed: Lab mix
Here’s a bit about Betty! She is fully house trained, and she will happily go into a crate with a treat or Kong filled with peanut butter. However, once the treat is done, she will bark unless she is tired enough to fall asleep.
Betty is mostly a quiet pup. She will use her voice if she’s excited or lonely. She loves people and dogs, so gets very excited and wants to meet and play! Betty is really great with kids, though due to her size and excitability, older kids might be a better fit. She does also still mouth/bite while playing which is being worked on.
Betty definitely needs to let off a good amount of energy, outside on long walks, and plenty of tug-o-war battles inside. If she’s able to let off enough steam through the day, she is happy to lounge around the house, taking naps through the day and sleeping through the night.
Betty still needs to brush up on her manners around other people and dogs. Her size with her deep bark can be scary for some people. However, once she’s able to meet and sniff everyone she always stops barking. She’s also working on keeping her paws on the ground when she gets excited. Generally speaking, she’s good on a leash, especially with a harness. She can pull quite hard if she becomes fixated on something, so it’s important to make sure you have a pocket full of small, yummy treats to go on your walks. She knows most basic commends but still learning new ones.
Most importantly, Betty will chew and eat EEEEVERYTHING. Her favourite items to tear up are anything made of material such as stuffies, socks, slippers/shoes, blankets and pillows. So, it’s really important to keep a close eye on her so she doesn’t hide with an item and eat it. She will also eat anything she finds outside, but her favourite are cigarette butts and sticks.
Betty up to date on vaccinations and will be adopted on a spay contract.
