Name: Cara
Age: 19 months
Breed: Potcake
Cara is a sweet 19 month old , bouncy little Potcake from Barbados.
She is quiet and does not usually bark as she doesn’t want to draw attention to herself, but she is wary of new people, situations, or loud noises at first and can vocalize her fear. Her foster mom has earned her trust, and Cara now feels confident in the house and yard. She is great with other dogs in her home but would also be good on her own with someone who has time to spend with her. She is also very respectful of a cat in her home. Cara was not tested with small children, but given her shyness and fear of sudden noises, she would likely not do well in a home with small children.
Although very shy, she really likes little scratchies and will come on her own to receive them. She is completely crate trained, and house trained but because of her shyness, she can sometimes accidentally slip when her foster mom approaches to pet her. With time and trust this may stop.
Because of the pandemic it’s difficult to assess how fast she warms up to different strangers visiting the home, but while out on walks she happily approaches people who are walking their dogs. In fact if they get down to her level she may even put her paws on their knees to let them pet her.
Cara doesn’t know how to play with toys and is even scared of squeaky toys, but she thinks her tail is a toy and can spin around to try and catch it. Or, if you touch her tail she will do the “Catch me if you can” for you and zoomies. Cara was a stray so being cautious about open front doors and having a fenced yard would be a must as she currently does not know commands like stay, stop, come etc.
Cara is fully vetted and Spayed
