Age: 8 Months
Breed: Barbados Potcake
Forrest is a cuddly 8-month-old puppy recently arrived in Canada from Barbados and is adjusting well to his new home – though he’s certainly no fan of the cold!
Forrest is housetrained, although the occasional accident still happens, especially if he’s anxious. He can be a little bit nervous around new people, especially men, but once he warms up, he’ll be your best friend for life. He is not very comfortable with children so far. He’s happiest cuddled up as close as possible with his people on the couch or bed. Personal space is not a concept he adheres to!
He also loves his toys and is learning to fetch. Most of the time he’s very quiet but once and a while will get the zoomies and go into hardcore play mode. We have been told he loves to play with other dogs and he is not aggressive towards those we have met on the street. He is learning to walk on a leash but can get overexcited and will run around in circles or pull.
Once bonded he can be quite clingy and does not like to be left alone. He is okay in a crate but will whine for 20-30 minutes before he settles down and falls asleep. He does bark when people come to the door but settles quickly once they are inside. He’s learning simple commands and has “sit” down pat. He is anxious to please. He has been diagnosed with the equivalent of puppy growing pains and had a limp for a while. That has rapidly improved, although the vet has cautioned it may recur for the next 18 months or so until he fully outgrows the condition.
Forrest would do well in a home that can provide him stability and comfort to help him get over his anxieties. Your patience and kindness will be repaid in spades from this lovely little dog. A home with a woman would help him adjust at the outset but, given time, he is just as loving towards men.
Forrest is fully vetted and Neutered.
