Name: Beanie
Age: 1 year
Breed: Terrier mix
Weight: 30 lbs
Beanie is a social butterfly from Texas that loves meeting new people and dogs. She is very playful, loves playing fetch with humans but can also entertain herself by throwing toys around or emptying the toy basket in record time!
Beanie enjoys her walks in the neighborhood and is learning to walk on leash. She is a jumping bean (hence her name) and will suddenly jump and twist in the air so you need a strong hold on her leash. She also loves to chase squirrels, rabbits and birds (prey drive) hence is not currently a good candidate for off-leash walks in the woods.
Beanie is a smart dog that learns basic commands quickly. She is also food motivated which helps greatly with training.
She is good with people but with her high energy and playfulness, can be a bit too much for toddlers and young children. Therefore she would do better in a home with children 8 and over.
Beanie is house trained. She is also crate trained. Although she enjoys following her people in the house throughout the day, she will go in her crate to sleep at night and for quiet times.
She is currently being fostered with two small breed dogs and is learning to tone down her enthusiasm when playing with them. She would do better In a home with a confident small dog and/or medium to large breed dogs. She can also happily be the only dog of the family.
Being so high-energy, Beanie requires an active family that will take her out for at least two long walks a day and play with her.
Her foster mom says that whoever gets to adopt Beanie will be a very lucky and happy family.
