Daisy – 5 year old female Bernese Mix. She is currently being fostered with a working dad, at home mom, and three children, aged 18, 16 and 14. Daisy came to us from the SPCA in Gatineau after she was surrendered by her previous owner. She is very loving and should bond quickly with new owners .
She is overweight and needs to lose a few pounds. She weighed in at 107lbs on intake and should probably weigh no more than 95 – but, she is doing well on her new diet. She is very well house trained, has never had an accident in the house and goes to the back door and/or whines to be let out when she does need to go. Daisy likes to go for short walks for now, as she had a tough time with the heat and her weight along with some stiffness in her hips. She is currently doing 3 shorter walks throughout the day. She is a medium energy level dog – she lies around the house mostly, or outside in the backyard, but enjoys her walks as well. Daisy sleeps through the night without a peep, doesn’t love the crate, but doesn’t much need it as she is non-destructive.
For the most part Daisy is very quiet, except to alert you when someone is at the door, which we are working on.
Daisy can be selective about other dogs and when she is on leash. She is working on building her confidence and proper, slow introductions to new situations is a must. She is uninterested in cats. She usually meets new people well, although is a bit more hesitant around men for some reason and it takes her a few more minutes to warm up.
She understand commands using hand signals and verbal.
Daisy would be described as loving, affectionate and friendly. She is working on her shyness when meeting new people. She would be a lap dog if she was allowed and definitely likes attention, being petted and getting belly rubs.
Daisy is up to date on all vaccinations and is spayed. Her adoption fee is $400.
