Dexter is a typical sweet Yorkie who came to Ottawa Dog Rescue from a home where he received no structure and no discipline which translated to low confidence. He loves and WANTS affection and to be babied and spoiled – but that’s not what he NEEDS. He needs someone who will give him structure and boundaries, exercise and of course love and affection. He is a sweetheart of a guy, and knows basic commands, is house trained and will even ask to go out. He can be crated, and that is his safe spot, he loves his crate and his toys, and he is non-destructive when left out. He has no toy or food guarding issues and walks very well on leash and also has very good recall when off leash. Dexter likes other dogs and gets along well with them most of the time, but if they are smaller than him he can be dominant over time so he would do better living with a bigger dog, as he does enjoy the company. He is great with adults and a snuggle bug but can get a bit anxious around active children so a home without young kids/visiting kids would be best for him. True to his breed, he does bark, but he is easily corrected and it is not excessive. He is neutered, has just had a dental cleaning and is up to date on his vaccines. Dexter’s adoption fee is $400
